The Bous a la Mar (in Valencian: Bulls at sea) are held during the festival of the Virgin of Loreto in the town of Jávea in Alicante. The most picturesque thing about this festival is the bull fighting in which the contestants try to get the bull to fall in the water . The "fiesta" ends at night with the "embolado "  bull ,  in which two fireballs  are placed close to the bulls horns . The origins of this "fiesta" are not really known , but the similarity with other bullfights in which the animal is not killed may have its origins in the Minoan civilization or other pre-Roman  traditions.
